WHAT IS GOOD... Progress Surgery Feedback

Today I had my progress surgery for What is Good with Lorenzo, I presented my idea and showed my design sheets which seemed to go down well. However, there were a few point which Lorenzo suggested I considered. The main consideration being the method of delivery my concept will take; how will my concept get from the designer to the use (mail shot to companies, available in doctors/surgeries/student services). Other points were:
//Tone of voice concept will take: is is going to be fun/serious
//Consider the interaction between pencil and person: behind ear, in chest pocket
//What a pencil stands for: D&AD pencils given as a prize/for recognition

Some useful points made her which all incredibly relevant to my design development in order to ensure my concept is whole.

WHAT IS GOOD... Possible Poster Designs

I decided to begin designing some posters as the basis of my project; these (or elements of these designs) could then be applied to my pencil, it's packaging and the way-finding I also want to produce. I have attempted to incorporate the style of some of the pharmaceutical packaging I found into my designs, I also tried to use a colour which represents the medical sector (the green/blue of surgeon gowns)

To do list....

This is my to do lost across all areas of the course. I felt I had a lot to do and it would be easier for me to categorise each task under each module area in order to me to see what needs doing...

WHAT IS GOOD... What to do and when

A quick summary of what I've got to do and when I'm going to do it.

WHAT IS GOOD... Thinking

I have been looking for inspiration in books and on the internet. As I have been going through I have made these rough doodles of ideas. From this I have then begun to reconsider how I will present my concept to the world, this is what I came up with....

...an event!

WHAT IS GOOD... Poster Layout Considerations

&another thought....

I have found it incredibly hard these past few days to work on my designs, I feel that this is due to me not having a clear defined use concept of my concept and am therefore designing work for the sake of it rather than giving my work a purpose (which is what I wanted from this brief). It is all well and good having my idea about the pencil being more that it seems but I need to somehow communicate this to world. Therefore, I have decided to create an event in which free pencils will be given away; this will then make use of my concept of the pencil as well as allowing me to produce designs focused on promoting the event, the pencil design itself and the packaging it will come in. I am finally happy and now need to crack on with designing ready for my Thursdays sign up surgery with Lorenzo.
