Type tool menu appears on left hand side...
...vectored, editable text.
works as footage layer.
...difference is in the text layer options
the position of the anchor point is not in the centre of the layer (as when you import illustrator files)
the anchor point is in the bottom left instead...
the anchor point can be moved by changing the anchor point property
you will also need to change the position to pull it back into place.
OR
you can reposition the anchor point whilst allowing the layer to remain in the same position
MUCH BETTER WAY!
source text property ...allows you to change what text says and any of its formatting over time.
create keyframe... it is a hold keyframe. so there is no interpolation.
different characters appear over time.
can change the source text colour/size
...animate text menu
....animate position
'Animator 1' in text properties
we now have two position properties.
left hand value alters the 'x' co-ordinates
right hand value alters the 'y' co-ordinates
use the range selector to move type using 'x' and 'y' co-ordinates.
'start'
'end'
the 'start' and 'end' percentages select a section of the text
you can then animate this using the 'offset' toggle option
Advanced options....
'Units' you can change the units of the range selector. can work with the number of characters you have in text rather than the percentage....
now displays the number of characters.
...changes just one character at a time.
can alter whole words at a time.
...this is the interpolation, the change between the two values we are altering.
Applying a scale animator...
scale allows you to choose how it is applied. (retain layers or not) each one sets the anchor point differently.
Increase scale value ....text animates on one anchor point
how the anchor point of each individual character is applied.
selecting the type 'per character'
set start and end values.
then, create a keyframe for the offset value.
....moving one character at a time.
can add a property....
can animate the tracking, so that as the characters increase in size the characters to spread into one another.
moves the surrounding letters further away when scale changes.
...apply different colour to character being scaled.
changes the colour as well as the scale.
to make this change gradually...
increase the smoothness, change the range selector to percentage, and move the range selector.
//Path options...
used with masks.
select pen tool to create a path (motion path for text)
make sure the path isn't closed, otherwise is will work as a vectored mask.
...attaches the text to the path
'reversed path' changes direction of path
'first margin' and 'last margin' are like the range selectors.
