YCN Development

Today Liv and I sat down to work on the YCN brief together, since re-writing the brief and concept rational twice more and having found the potential holes we still had to fill, it was now time to fill them. Our main concern was what our deliverables were going to be and then how we were going deliver them to our target audience. So, we sat down armed with pen, paper and a mac for inspiration and firstly wrote down products which we thought would be suitable....

In addition to this, we researched into existing products that had been previously produced for Fedrigoni as we did not want to work on a product that has ultimately already been used by the company itself. This research proved useful as some of the ideas we had come up with (in particular post-it notes) had already been done ...and for a YCN brief aswell. We want our work to stand out and be original, so we do not want to produce something which has been done before.

We decided that whatever we were going to produce that it needed to showcase the properties of the paper to potential graphics designers. We thought of using the word of what the paper can do and doing it to the word (i.e emboss the word emboss, cut the word cut etc)....

We also thought about playing on the senses as this is ultimately how we choose paper, so if we showcase the values of Fedrigoni's paper in this way then it would lead to people choosing to purchase their paper.

However, we would need to come up with a very strong product in order to make this concept effective.

We then considered how we would get the product to our target audience in a creative manor as we had only come up with and mail shot and were not sure if this was pushing the boundaries enough ...should we be thinking BIGger? Our decision was that we would pose these questions in our crit tomorrow.
